Session 1. We evaluate the ability of each pupil, and give them the appropriate music to suite their standard. We explain about jazz and teach them the blues scale, starting a piece in the form of the blues that will be performed on their own in the concert.
Session 2. We introduce more pieces that will be played with the 6plus1 band, and do a sound check with 6plus1. Students that are more able will be encouraged to take improvised solos in the appropriate places.
The concert will be 2x45 minute sets, which the children will take part in about half of the show.
